Bhanubhakta Acharya (1814–1868) is regarded as the first popular poet of Nepal and is honored as the “Adi Kavi” (First Poet) of Nepali literature. He was born in Chundi Ramgha, Tanahun district of Nepal, in a Brahmin family. From an early age, he received a strong education in Sanskrit and studied religious scriptures in depth.
