Swami Vivekananda was a great Indian spiritual leader, philosopher, and social reformer. He was born on 12 January 1863 in Kolkata, India, and his birth name was Narendra Nath Datta. He was the chief disciple of Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. He played a major role in introducing Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world. He became globally famous after his powerful speech at the World's Parliament of Religions, where he began with the words “Sisters and Brothers of America”.
