Description

Abhigyan Shakuntalam is one of the greatest classical Sanskrit plays written by the legendary poet and playwright Kālidāsa. It is considered a masterpiece of Indian literature and is widely studied in Sanskrit and Hindi literature courses. This work is a romantic drama based on the story of King Dushyanta and Shakuntala, a beautiful and innocent girl raised in the hermitage of Sage Kanva. The story shows themes of love, separation, memory loss, curse, and reunion, making it emotionally powerful and timeless. In the play, King Dushyanta falls in love with Shakuntala, but due to a sage’s curse, he forgets her. Later, after many struggles and divine intervention, he regains his memory and reunites with Shakuntala and their son Bharata.
